I can see clearly now…
Feb 13th 2019. This image was taken on our last night of our 5 week family sabbatical in Costa Rica. It seems like an ordinary image – but let me explain. For many years now I have felt blocked visually when I look at the girls – I haven’t been able to see past current events.
In some ways – it’s been a gift because it has allowed me to be more present but for the most part it has been heartbreaking to not be able to dream of what they might look like, who they might be when they grow up, but most of all… if I will be there with them. (gulp) Cancer doesn’t play a huge role in our house, we don’t give it any more attention then necessary but the reality is that it creeps in on the mind and has a tendency to play tricks on the ‘what if’ game and ‘how long’ do we really have in this life. Because of these ‘mind tricks’ I am constantly reminded on how important it is to listen to my heart and allow time and space to play… allow time and space to dream… allow time and space to scream… allow time and space to cry… allow time and space to ‘just be’. Here in this image… as the sun sets on our final evening I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, a simple daily practice I do for 1min every morning and evening. Deep breathe in… 2, 3, 4…. And out 2, 3, 4. When I focus on my breathe I can pause and give thanks to my physical body and thank it for how hard it is working to keep me alive.
So again, I breathe…
When I opened my eyes the magical moment I have been working so hard to see for a long time appeared. I could see the girls past this moment… I could see them when they were older, I could hear sweet gigglin and most importantly I could feel me there with them. ✨🙏🏻✨ So, I am grateful for my breathe and for trusting my heart to lead my family to the places that help support our daily rituals in healing environments where we can grow old together.
The truth is none of us are guaranteed time so my biggest wish for everyone is to use your time here wisely with the people that you love in the places that make make you feel vibrant and allow you to breathe deeply. #feelthatnosara #familysabbatical #feelthatcostarica2019 #healing
